Create a show-stopping appetizer with this easy baked brie in puff pastry recipe. You get a warm, gooey melted brie center wrapped in flaky, golden pastry. This sweet and savory baked brie is perfect for holiday parties or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel Brie cheese, cold
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam or apricot preserves
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: Chopped pecans or walnuts for topping
  • Optional: Honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. If the sheet is large, you may need to trim it slightly to fit the Brie wheel.
  3. Place the cold Brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry.
  4. Spread the jam evenly over the top surface of the Brie wheel.
  5. Fold the edges of the puff pastry up and over the Brie, sealing the seams tightly at the top to completely enclose the cheese. Trim any excess pastry.
  6. Place the wrapped Brie, seam-side down, onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the entire surface of the pastry package with the beaten egg wash. This helps it brown nicely.
  8. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts over the top of the egg-washed pastry.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed. The cheese inside should be soft and melted.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle with honey, if desired.
  11. Serve this warm cheesy snack immediately with crackers or apple slices.

Notes

  • Keep the Brie cold before wrapping; this helps prevent the cheese from leaking out while the pastry bakes.
  • For an extra crispy crust, chill the wrapped Brie for 15 minutes in the refrigerator before brushing with egg wash and baking.
  • If you prefer a savory option, substitute the jam with caramelized onions or pesto.
