Ingredients
Scale
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 (15.25 ounce) box dry yellow cake mix
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer.
Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the cherry pie filling layer. Do not mix the ingredients.
Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
Let the dump cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for the best experience.
Notes
For a richer topping, you can use a spice cake mix instead of yellow cake mix.
If you want a more buttery cake topping dessert, use slightly more butter, up to 3/4 cup total.
This recipe works well in a slow cooker; cook on low for 3 to 4 hours.
