This creamy olive dip combines green and black olives with cream cheese for a savory Mediterranean flavor. It is a quick, no-cook appetizer perfect for parties or holiday entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup pitted green olives, drained and finely chopped
  • 1 cup pitted black olives, drained and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional garnish: fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the chopped green olives, chopped black olives, sour cream, minced garlic, lemon juice, dried oregano, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use an electric mixer or a sturdy spoon to beat the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Gently mix in the olive oil until it is fully incorporated into the dip.
  5. Transfer the olive dip to a serving bowl. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This chilling time makes it a great make ahead appetizer.
  6. Before serving, garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve this easy crowd pleasing dip with crackers, pita chips, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use good quality, oil-cured olives.
  • This dip tastes better when made a few hours ahead of time, as the chilling period deepens the savory notes.
  • If you prefer a chunkier texture, pulse the ingredients briefly in a food processor instead of mixing until completely smooth.
  • This recipe is a simple cheese dip that works well as a cocktail party snack.
